Forum bug?

Hi folks--I am not sure if it is just a matter of waiting for moderation, or if there is some bug holding up posts in the forum.  I have submitted comments twice now to two separate posts by Joseph Lofthouse, and they don't seem to ever actually show up in the forum.  I posted a lengthy one yesterday in the 'members' forum (that I only recently found out existed), and then another this afternoon in the public forum.  Still no sign of either one.  Is there a glitch in the commenting function?  Or are my comments just waiting for moderator approval?  I don't want to unnecessarily innundate the forum with redundant messages, but would really like to participate in the conversation.

It was suggested that starting a new thread works, but that submitting a comment to an existing thread does not.  I am testing that here.  Any other thoughts or suggestions?

It seems to me that the potential value of the forum would be best realized if we can have quick dynamic dialog.  I am reluctant to use the forum feature if I know that my message will sit in a moderation queue for more than a day, and that other users comments are likewise lined up in the same limbo.  It is hard to have a constructive conversation by responding to what someone said yesterday and not hearing what they said today (until tomorrow).

Could it be possible to move to a system where a user's first message requires moderator approval prior to posting, but after that, they can post without pre-approval?  The moderator(s) could then just have a policy of a daily review of the forums to remove any offensive or libelous messages that get posted.  It meants that some stinkers could get through temporarily, but it seems like a pretty unlikely issue anyway, and this would allow for a much more dynamic forum.  If it becomes a persistent problem, maybe 'problem' users could be required to get preapproval.

Thanks,

Daniel

Hmm.  Creating a new thread

Hmm.  Creating a new thread worked instantaneously--presumably without moderator aproval.  Now I am trying to comment on my own post.

Thanks for humoring my trobleshooting,

Daniel

Dan's post

I think Daniel has an extremely good idea. This backup/obstacle seems to be our major sticking point right now.
